SuperPack version 1.0 for Tektronix 1240/1241

(c) 2002 Pavel Korensky

CAD system used for design is EAGLE 3.5
Gerber files are in format GERBER-274-X

File names:

ROMRAM.SCH - Schematic file
ROMRAM.BRD - PCB design file
ROMRAM_SCH.PDF - Schematic file in PDF format

RAMROM.CMP - Gerber PCB design TOP side
RAMROM.SOL - Gerber PCB design BOTTOM SIDE
RAMROM.STC - Gerber solder mask TOP side
RAMROM.STS - Gerber solder mask BOTTOM side
RAMROM.PLC - Gerber printing (names, values etc.) TOP side
RAMROM.PLS - Gerber printing (names, values etc.) BOTTOM side

RAMROM.DRL - Drill rack for EXCELLON
RAMROM.DRD - Drill file for EXCELLON

The edge connector is golden plated, but maybe it is not necessary.

WARNING: This version 1.0 contains one small error. One resistor is omitted both in schematic and on PCB.
The resistor (10 kOhm) should be placed between pin 7 of DIP switch (S1) and +5V.
It can be soldered directly on the bottom side of the PCB between pin 7 of the switch and one via in the corner (5V).

Also note, that if you have Tektronix 1240 with diagnostic ROM version less than 9.x, the analyzer will report RAMPACK checksum error during power-up diagnostics.
Just press "Resume normal operation" softkey and before first use, format the RAM with "X" key.

DIP Switch works as follows:

SW1 - Bit 0 of page address
SW2 - Bit 1 of page address
SW3 - Bit 2 of page address
SW4 - Unused
SW5 - Unused
SW6 - Switch between RAM and ROM. ON=ROM OFF=RAM.

There are 8 pages of ROM and 2 pages of RAM, 64KB each.

It is not necessary to switch the analyzer off if you want to change ROM/RAM or page address. Just go to "Utilities" menu, change the DIP switch and press "LOAD NEW PACK" softkey.

One mechanical remark. It is a good idea to glue a piece of plastic (approx 4-5 mm thick) to the bottom of PCB. The bottom of the ROMPACK well in the 1240 body is made from aluminium, so there is possibility to make a short circuit if the PCB will touch the bottom.
In the next version of the design, I will change the size of the PCB, so it will be possible to fit it in the old ROMPACK/RAMPACK plastic box. I was just to lazy and to impatient to do it in the first version.

LEGAL NOTICE

The design is "AS-IS" and can be freely modified, enhanced etc.
Of course there are no warranties that this design will work for you, that you will not blow -up your logic analyzer etc.
I have absolutely no responsibility about anything.

Enjoy
